Policy and Procedures for Ruff Cuts Dog Salon

Double-Coated Dogs

Double-coated dogs have two layers of fur for important reasons: protection and insulation. The undercoat provides warmth and shields the dog from weather and elements, while the top coat repels dirt and moisture. While these coats have benefits, they require regular grooming to stay healthy.

We strongly discourage shaving or clipping double coats, as this can expose sensitive skin to sunburn and increase the risk of skin issues. Should you choose to have your double-coated dog clipped, Ruff Cuts Dog Salon will not be held responsible for any resulting skin or hair damage after continuous cutting.

De-Matting

We do not perform full-body de-matting services. Your dog’s health and well-being always take priority over aesthetic preferences.

Signs of Illness

If your pup is unwell, please do not bring them to the salon. Symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, coughing, or sneezing may indicate illness. Ruff Cuts Dog Salon is not responsible for any illnesses your pup may contract.

Appointment Policies

Your Pup’s Well-Being is Our Priority

We are committed to ensuring your pup’s visit is as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Every effort will be made to provide a positive experience for you and your furry companion.

Thank you for trusting Ruff Cuts Dog Salon with your pup’s grooming needs!

No Call/No Show

Failing to show up without notice (“no call/no show”) prevents us from rebooking the appointment. These instances will result in the full service fee being charged.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

24-Hour Notice: We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

Confirmation: Appointment reminders will be sent three days prior and the day of the appointment. You must confirm by replying “Y” to the text. Not replying does not cancel or confirm your appointment.

Late Cancellations: Appointments canceled or rescheduled less than 24 hours in advance will incur the full service fee, charged to the card on file.

Appointments typically last 2–3 hours, depending on the breed, size, and coat condition. Each grooming session includes ear cleaning and nail trimming unless these services are deemed too stressful or unsafe for your pup. We never rush our clients.

Please note that grooming may expose pre-existing health issues for which Ruff Cuts Dog Salon is not liable.

Payment Policies

We accept major credit cards, Apple Pay, cash, and checks. For returned checks, a $30 processing fee will be applied.

Rates are based on your dog’s breed and the time required for grooming.

Pre-Grooming Walks

Please walk your dog before their appointment to minimize accidents. If your dog has an accident outside our salon, please clean up after them. A waste station is located across from our building for convenience. If assistance is needed, our staff will gladly help.

Senior Dogs

For our senior or elderly clients, grooming focuses on maintaining health and cleanliness. Grooming may reveal pre-existing health or skin conditions for which Ruff Cuts Dog Salon cannot be held responsible. All grooming for senior dogs is performed at the owner’s risk.

Vaccination Requirements

For the safety of all our clients:

Rabies vaccination is required (state-mandated).

Bordetella vaccination is recommended but not required to ensure your dog’s health.
